Notes

  • Need to work on defining the goals of the committee and steering committee going forward and how to execute.
  • Iowa Flood Center/Iowa DNR partnership will be ending affecting current GIS TAC members.
  • CGRER funding affecting GIS TAC member.
  • Instead of GIS Day planning, which always occurs during/around fall semester break/mid-terms, the idea is to spread out the activities over the course of the year. This could include geocaching, map contest and talks.
  • In terms of reaching out to more GIS Users in the area, there was talk about obtaining ArcGIS Cloud user data and reaching out to specific departments about GIS use currently happening within their organizations and the people associated with that work.
  • The TAC is planning on making better use of the website to to provide white papers, help guides and providing more in-depth resources so that someone getting started with GIS on campus can be pointed to the website first. This will hopefully reduce support requests that come into the gis-help email address as well as promote the GIS-Users group/listserv.
  • Plan to meet again in early April and then to schedule a tentative quarterly meeting after that.
